Cowboys vs. Dragons, Friday at Queensland Country Bank Stadium

Cowboys: Todd Payten has decided to let Maroons representatives Reuben Cotter and Jeremiah Nanai rest, while Val Holmes remained in the squad on Thursday when he was reduced to 19. Tom Dearden returns to the fifth round after missing round 13 in the ‘Origin, so Ben Hampton leaves. In case Holmes backed up, Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow would probably switch sides and Brendan Elliot would be the man to lose.

Dragons: Bent Hunt and Tariq Sims will fly to Townsville after the opening of Origin on Wednesday and look set to make a backup for the Dragons. If Hunt were ruled out, Jayden Sullivan would probably come in as a midfielder. Forwards Josh McGuire and Jaydn Su’A remained in the squad when it was reduced to 19 on Thursday and could be called up on the day of the match as they recover from injuries.
