One dead after colliding between a wooden truck in Cumberland

One person died Tuesday afternoon after a serious accident with a wooden truck in Cumberland.

The Comox Valley RCMP said it was responding to a severe collision on the Cumberland Road ramp to Highway 19 shortly before 3 p.m.

Comox Valley ConstMP RCMP spokesman Const. Monika Terragni told CHEK News that the collision involved a logging truck and another vehicle, but had no further information on how the incident happened.

First responders, including an air ambulance, responded. A coroner later attended the scene shortly after 4:30 p.m. A victim was still inside the vehicle when a second logging truck arrived to pick up logs from a crushed van.

A commercial vehicle inspector and RCMP accident investigators were also at the scene.

Drivers were asked to avoid the area to allow the former to respond to the situation.
