Police are reminding drivers to renew their license plates when they expire. It has become more worrying since the Ontario government removed the stickers and fees associated with the renovation.
In a video shared on Twitter, Sergeant Kerry Schmidt of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) said “officers across the province are seeing many more vehicles now without proper registration.”
In February, the Ontario government announced an end to license renewal fees and a refund to drivers for the cost of renewals over the past two years.

It was estimated that removing the sticker tariff program would cost the province $ 1.1 billion in revenue annually.

However, the measure did not end with the obligation to renew licenses and ensure payment of insurance premiums and outstanding tolls or municipal fines.

OPP said license renewal notices no longer arrive automatically by mail, although drivers can register through Service Ontario online to receive digital reminders.
