The province reported 825 new cases of COVID-19 on Saturday, but health officials have warned that the figure is an understatement due to limitations and delayed testing.

In the Greater Toronto Area, officials reported 210 new cases in Toronto, 62 new cases in the Peel region, 55 new cases in the York region, 35 new cases in the Durham region and 20 new cases in the Halton region.

The province estimated that 892 more cases of the disease had been resolved as of Saturday, bringing the number of patients recovered from Ontario to 1,290,406.

Today’s report brings the total number of laboratory-confirmed cases in Ontario to 1,312,185.

The province reported 51 cases of residents and 17 cases of staff in long-term care settings across Ontario. Five of the eight deaths reported Saturday involved residents in long-term care.

Officials said at least 62 long-term care homes are currently facing an outbreak.
