Optus has quietly added two new Android devices to its prepaid line, the X Pro 2 and X Start 3, with both devices from ZTE’s device catalog here in Australia. The devices are aimed at budget-conscious people or those who can’t spend hundreds of dollars on a mid-range or high-end device.
Optus X Pro 2
The Optus X Pro 2 is the highest budget device, with a 6.52-inch (720 × 1600 @ 269 ppi) IPS HD + display that works with an Octa Core (1.6 GHz x 4 + 1.2 GHz x 4) Processor, although unfortunately both Optus and ZTE have not indicated the exact type of processor used.
It has 3GB of RAM along with 64GB of built-in storage (with about 55GB available to the user) which can be expanded to 512GB via MicroSD.
As for the cameras, the Optus X Pro 2 includes a triple rear camera setup that consists of a 13 MP main camera, a 2 MP Macro lens and a 2 MP depth sensor lens. The front panel is a 5 MP camera.
The Optus X Pro 2 includes 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi 802.11 b / g / na, Bluetooth version 4.2, NFC capabilities, 3.5mm audio jack, a non-removable 5000 mAh battery and runs Android 11 in the box, though I’m not sure if my device will receive an update to Android 12.
The Optus X Pro 2 is available at your local Optus store or on the Optus prepaid website for only $ 179 in gray.
Optus X Start 3
The Optus X Start 3 is the most economical end of the devices, with the X Start 3 including a 5-inch (480 × 960 pixels) FWVGA + display and powered by a 1.4 GHz x Quad-Core processor 4), although Optus or ZTE do not directly list the exact type of processor used.
The Optus X Start 3 includes 1 GB of RAM and 32 GB of on-board storage, with about 24 GB available to the user, which can be expanded to 256 GB using a MicroSD card.
As for the cameras, the Optus X Start 3 comes with a single 5MP rear camera, with a 2MP camera on the front that doesn’t sound like the best on paper, but if you’re not worried about flawless selfies, this one could be good enough for a video chat or an occasional selfie.
The Optus X Start 3 includes 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi 802.11 b / g / na, Bluetooth version 4.2, a removable 2,000 mAh battery and works with the Android 11 GB edition, although it is probably the best and most secure that there may be no update to Android 12 GB Edition when available.
The Optus X Start 3 is available at your local Optus store or on the Optus Gray prepaid website for $ 79 only.
