OQAO standardized testing has been stopped due to technical issues

TORONTO – The organization that administers standardized testing for Ontario students says it has paused testing while solving a technical problem.

The Office of Quality and Educational Responsibility says the problem is slowing down the system for some users and they are working to resolve it as soon as possible.

It is assumed that 3rd and 6th graders will be required to complete reading, writing, and math assessments at this time.

The Ontario Federation of Elementary Teachers says some students have reported significant system delays for digital testing, while others have said they have completed entire sections, only to find that the answers have not been saved.

The union says it has previously called for testing to be halted this year due to concerns about “deficiencies” in planning and preparing for the new digital format.

The Ministry of Education says the OQAO is investigating the situation and the extent of the impact.
