The owner of a massage parlor in Ottawa has been charged with sexual assault following an alleged incident in mid-January.
Police say the owner of the 2300 block clinic on St. Boulevard Laurent sexually assaulted a client during treatment.
Police began their investigation into the indictment in March, it said in a press release on Thursday.
Akram Elmuradi, 44, is charged with sexual assault and obstruction of police.
Federal corporation records indicate Akram Elmuradi as the director of the neuromotion therapy clinic on St. Boulevard. Laurent. However, it does not appear on the clinic’s website.
An employee of the clinic told CTV News that Elmuradi co-owns the business, but is not a licensed physician.
He said the alleged incident did not occur during a client’s treatment, calling the description “incorrect” because the defendant is not a doctor who treats patients.
Police say they are concerned about other casualties. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Ottawa Police Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Unit at 613-236-1222, ext. 5944.
