Junker Queen is the 34th hero of Overwatch and the first new tank announced for Overwatch 2.

One of the main focuses of today’s Overwatch 2 revelation event was a deep dive into the new hero Junker Queen. It’s an “aggressive tank,” lead hero designer Geoff Goodman said during the broadcast. “We didn’t want her to be a Reinhardt style, to be left behind and save her team. She has this very fierce nature and we wanted her to be represented in the game as well.”
Junker Queen has an ax that can spin around Reinhardt’s hammer. A key difference is that it is a skill in a reuse time: it is called Carnage. He has a shotgun as his main fire.

His melee attack is with a knife called a Jagged Blade. Junker Queen is referred to as Gracie: she has nicknames for each of her weapons. It does a little more damage than other characters’ melee attacks and wounds the enemy, Goodman said.

You can also throw the blade as a secondary fire at a reuse time. If you connect with an enemy, you can shoot him.
With his Scream Commander, he can increase the speed and excessive health of the heroes around him. Some of his skills drain HP from enemy heroes and restore some of his own health (i.e. the wound effect). Based on the video of the Reveal event, Junked Queen’s health is 425 without any basic junk.
Junker Queen’s Ultimate is called Rampage and has a similar effect on enemies like Ana’s Biotic … [+] Granada.

Junker Queen’s Ultimate is called Rampage. He gathers his weapons in what Goodman calls “a kind of magnetized metal vortex.” She will advance and any enemy she connects with will be wounded. This creates an anti-healing disadvantage for enemies: they will not be able to heal for a limited time.
Art director Dion Rogers said Junker Queen emerged from the Junkertown map, which was added to the original game in 2017. “We started creating this map that was associated with Roadhog and Junkrat,” Rogers said. “This story began to appear where they had been expelled from the city and so we said, ‘Who expelled them?’ And we said, “Well, maybe there’s some kind of leader.” Eventually, the team realized that it was Junker Queen.
However, she was not always the queen of Junkertown (her real name is Odessa “Dez” Stone). In the animated short released at the end of the Reveal event, we see her fight a Junker King. I will let you know how this fight turned out. Also, for those who are wondering, it is seven feet tall, and that cannot be taught.
Rogers noted that Junker Queen was specifically designed as a solo tank for a 5v5 format. All of the above tanks were created for the original game’s 6v6 configuration, so their skills were built with the knowledge that it would be a solo tank.
Meanwhile, Junker Queen’s sound design aligns with her punk aesthetic. You will hear the strings of the guitar as you pull out the ax, for example. You can also expect to hear new voice lines from her through the Junkertown PA system. He has the voice of actor Leah de Niese.

The developers delve into Junker Queen
Undoubtedly, Junker Queen seems to fit in with the ethos of Overwatch 2 of making tanks much more fighting and getting to the heart of the action, rather than staying behind a barrier. Her skills make her look like she will be perfect for fast competitions.
It’s easy to draw parallels between the Junker Queen kit and the skills of other heroes. The secondary fire with the knife has similarities to Roadhog’s chain hook, can increase the speed of your team like Lucius, and can invoke the anti-healing effects of Ana’s biotic grenade. He reads to me as if he were a bit of a scavenger who has assembled his equipment with spare parts.
“When we’re creating new heroes, it’s important to us that heroes feel unique, even if they use tools similar to other heroes,” Goodman said in an interview this week. “He’s kind of unique because he’s the first hero since Lucius to speed up his team and the first hero since Ana to provide an anti-healing effect. So in a lot of ways, he’s great for opening up more options for your team and how it is played, where if you really want to increase your speed, you now have two options.
“We want to make sure that when you grab the ax and you want to play Junker Queen, you really feel the style of play that it would have, that aggressive style of play. So its ability to give you a boost and get closer. […] it almost has that aura of fear around it because it’s really deadly in that range, “Goodman added.

“One thing Geoff has said before, and it resonates with me every time, is that it makes the whole team more deadly,” said lead narrative designer Gavin Jurgens-Fyhrie. “What happens to her skills, which I think was decided pretty early on in the narrative part, is that we looked at her, looked at her skills and said, ‘this is a woman who puts a name to her weapons.’ And so his ax is called Carnage. That’s actually the name of the skill, I think.

“She is the queen of the desert. Her equipment, all her weapons are scrapped. Her ax is made of a lot of different pieces found. The same with her knife and her dress,” said the supervisor. of art Kacey Helms. “It’s totally a fight. She has her hair pulled back and away. Her clothes are broken. She’s not really worried about how she looks. She just wants to get in there and get things done. Besides, being seven feet tall is “I am very excited about being a tall woman. I am very excited to have another tall, powerful lady.”
Junker Queen will be playing for the first time in the second PVP beta of Overwatch 2, which will begin on June 28th. You can find out how to access the beta version here. Overwatch 2 will be released on October 4th.
