Overwatch 2 is making big changes.
The game is a bit confusing, as it’s not exactly a sequel, but it’s not exactly a sequel either. Basically, it’s a big update to the original Overwatch that will completely overhaul this game and replace it with a new one. Many will remain the same, including the old list of heroes, but will change a lot, including a clever 6-on-6 to 5-on-5 multiplayer PvP move.
The revised game will also finally leave its most controversial feature: the loot boxes. Overwatch 2 will replace them with the much less divisive Battle Pass, which we’ve seen in games like Warzone and Fortnite and many others right now. Battle Pass will include plenty of optional cosmetic content, such as hero looks, emotes, and more.
Of course, this means that the game will also adopt a seasonal release model. Each new season will feature lots of new content that includes new heroes, maps, modes, and battle passes. Here is a very basic roadmap detailing the content from the October 4 launch to 2023:

There will be a beta release later this month for players to help test the new content.
Overwatch 2 will arrive on PC, Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X | S on October 4, 2022 and includes cross-play and cross-progression. It will be a free game.
PvE content will arrive next year. Watch the video below to learn more about today’s revelation of Overwatch 2.
Switching to a free game with a Battle Pass instead of loot boxes keeps Overwatch 2 in line with most other major live service shooters, including Fortnite and Warzone, by exchanging a revenue model based on questionable chance associated mainly with mobile games. for something fairer and more transparent.
Personally, I look forward to playing this crossover game with my kids and my Call Of Duty team as a good alternative to COD. What do you think of Overwatch 2 so far?
