Oxford: Everything we know about the Cowley Road incident

UPDATE: A man has now been arrested and police have launched an appeal. The copy of this story has been amended to reflect this

Cowley Road has been closed off this evening after an alleged ‘shootout’ saw police descend on the scene.

The incident saw traffic brought to a halt and part of the road closed while police investigated.

What happened?

Police believe a firearm was fired in Cowley Road this afternoon.

Following the events, they filed an appeal and said that a man, who was sitting in a vehicle, was approached and shot in the arm.

A member of the public who was in Cowley Road at the time also said another man was shot in the shoulder.

Several police vehicles and officers, as well as an ambulance, were seen at the scene.

A police photographer has also arrived to take pictures of the scene.

The Oxford Mail has approached Thames Valley Police for comment.

Was anyone hurt?

A man was reportedly shot in the shoulder and an ambulance was seen in the incident.

The man was taken to hospital and is not believed to be in serious condition.

Is Cowley Road still closed?

Cowley Road was closed for about an hour and a half but has now reopened.
