Paul Pogba has been accused of failing to meet his exorbitant price ahead of his departure from Manchester United, proving that Sir Alex Ferguson’s decision to release the French star a decade ago was the right one.
Pogba was signed by the club for a record £ 89m from Juventus in 2016 while Jose Mourinho was in the lead, but the Frenchman has largely failed to produce the performances expected of him. He only won two trophies in his time at the club, with his last success in 2016-17 with the Europa League.
The club confirmed on Wednesday that the 29-year-old will leave for the second time with a free transfer after completing his contract and it looks like he will rejoin Juve or move to Paris Saint-Germain, a decade after refusing to renew his contract in 2012 when Ferguson was in charge.

The Scotsman was unimpressed by the Frenchman’s actions at the Old Trafford exit, and former Arsenal man Ray Parlor believes the legendary boss had money with his trial.
“He goes back to Sir Alex Ferguson when he let him go, he wasn’t his type of player; there’s a reason he let him go,” the Gunners legend told talkSPORT. “Sir Alex Ferguson must have looked at him and said his dedication is wrong or something is wrong, so he let him go.
“He has returned to the club and may remain the same. Sometimes you don’t change. Sometimes I’ve seen Pogba play and I’m thinking, ‘go, cheer up a bit’, you know? As a player you have to do it every week, you have to work hard every week, and you haven’t seen that in Pogba with the Manchester United shirt. Sometimes it doesn’t work as a player, it’s a lot of money to spend, it was a big signing for Man United. “

Pogba has scored just 39 goals in 231 games for the club and his last season at the club has been plagued by injuries, with the midfielder only 20 appearances in total. Some would point to the fact that Pogba won the World Cup during his second stint at United as proof of his ability to be one of the best in the world in his day, but those displays were very few for United.
But former footballer Dean Saunders agreed with Parlor that Pogba has not been largely up to the task of exaggerating and even suggested that he look better because of N’Golo Kante’s work during the triumph of Les Bleus in 2018.
“When he has had to stand up to the plate and produce the merchandise, given that he is priced at £ 90 million on his back and believes he will produce magic passes in every game, he is just giving away the ball too much.” said Saunders. “I just think back, is it Kante? Does Kante make everyone he plays with look good? As soon as they leave Kante, they look average and maybe they thought he was better than him.
