Former Vice President Mike Pence on Monday opposed former President Donald Trump in endorsing a different Republican primary candidate for Arizona governor: establishing a political brawl that could involve former formula mates holding duel meetings on Friday.
Karrin Taylor Robson said she was “honored” to have Pence’s support in a series of posts on her Twitter account.
“He has been a warrior for the holiness of Life; limited government; law and order; opportunity for all; and the knowledge that our freedoms are granted by God. I am proud to have him on my team,” Robson said. .
Robson, who is running for the Trump-backed nomination against Kari Lake, also shared a statement from Pence on social media.

The 45th president backed Lake, a former television news presenter who has repeated Trump’s claims about the 2020 election robbery last September, saying “few can take on fake news media like Kari.” .

Pence backed incumbent Brian Kemp, who strongly defeated Trump’s chosen rival, former Sen. David Perdue.
Robson and Lake are running to succeed Gov. Doug Ducey, who has a limited term, in the August 2 primary.
Lake has risen 8.5 percentage points in the race, according to a RealClear Politics average of candidate polls.
