The beloved star battled cancer for 16 years, before dying Saturday night surrounded by family.
Dear newsreader Yvette Mooney has lost her battle with cancer at the age of 58.
Mooney was on television in Perth for two decades, beginning his career with Seven News in 1984.
He started as a journalist before joining the news bulletin, before finally moving on to present the Today Tonight news program.
The “beautiful” news presenter ran Perth at Five alongside Basil Zempilas, but left the industry after being diagnosed with cancer in 2008.
Mooney battled cancer for 16 years, before dying Saturday night surrounded by family, The West reported.
“Our hearts are broken, but our precious angel Vetti is at peace after a long battle with cancer,” his family said.
“Her grace and courage were an inspiration. Yvette’s beautiful heart, kindness, wisdom, that magnificent smile enriched our lives.”
The family also asked for privacy while mourning.
Channel Susannah Carr and Rick Ardon said it was “the whole package”.
“She was a very good journalist and a beautiful girl both inside and out,” Carr said.
“Beautiful to see, beautiful voice, but very nice and lovely nature to be around.”
Mooney leaves behind her husband, Phil, and her son, Andre.
