A few days ago came a story that former MGM bosses Michael De Luca and Pamela Abdy were commissioned by the CEO of Warner Bros. Discovery, David Zaslav, to take over Warner Bros. Pictures and Supervise DC Films.

Within the report, there was the line that “Joker” filmmaker Todd Phillips had been approached to advise DC Films in a creative way after the success of this film, although it would not be a position official executive.

Puck News reported earlier this week that Phillips is “getting pretty close to a ‘Joker’ sequel.” It seems to have been in the money, as today, the filmmaker has offered the first confirmation that there is a follow-up to the works.

Phillips posted a photo of the cover of the film’s script on Instagram. Written by Phillips and his collaborator Scott Silver, his collaborator on the first film, the film is tentatively titled “Joker: Folie a Deux”.

In the same post, Phillips added a photo of star Joaquin Phoenix reading the script. The first film re-framed the iconic Batman villain in a study of anti-hero characters about a troubled comic book who becomes a popular hero in Gotham City after attacking shocking acts of violence.

At a cost-effective $ 55 million, it grossed $ 1.03 billion worldwide along with twelve Oscar nominations, including Best Actor and Best Original Soundtrack.
