This week has been quite full of storms on the prairies, with several days of severe storms that have sparked vigilance and tornado warnings in Saskatchewan, Manitoba and northwestern Ontario.
Although there have been several reports of tornadoes this week, two storms have been confirmed in Saskatchewan. On the evening of Thursday, June 23, a strong storm moved north from Morse, Sask., To Central Butte. Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) received reports of a tornado near Morse at approximately 5:40 pm local time.
The Northern Tornadoes Project (NTP) and ECCC collaborated in confirming the tornado and will continue to collect evidence to document the tornado’s track and intensity. The included tornado strength rating is preliminary and is subject to change if more information is available.
The tornado occurred 30 km north of Morse, but so far there have been no reports of damage, so it was given a preliminary default rating of EF-0. The storms also caused hail-sized reports of a golf ball in Yorkton, Sask., As well as 181 mm amounts of rain in Spirtwood.
In addition, there was a tornado in southwestern Saskatchewan on Monday, just north of the village of Rheinfeld around 5:40 pm CST. It is the location of the Centennial wind farm. He was also given an EF-0 rating.
Heavy storms were also recorded on Thursday in parts of southern Manitoba, causing tornado warnings for some areas on Thursday, although none have been confirmed at this time. However, there was a baseball-sized hail in Binscarth and Rossburn, Man.

Also Thursday, heavy rains and storms moved through Alberta as a low-pressure system followed through the province.
However, another round of heavy storms headed into the eastern prairies on Friday, causing heavy hail, heavy rain and flooding in parts of southern Manitoba.
A slow storm line developed south of the border and gradually filled south of Manitoba and northwestern Ontario until Friday evening, causing tornadoes to monitor parts of the latter. These slow-moving storms continued until Saturday morning.
In some storms in Manitoba heavy rainfall was recorded, with 100 mm received in Carlowrie in a single hour, 52.9 mm received at Winnipeg Airport also in one hour and 50 mm of rain in St. Louis. Joseph in 30 minutes.
As of 10pm local time on Friday night, Carlowrie had received 100mm of rain, 69mm observed in Dominion City, 59mm documented in Rosa, 54mm at Winnipeg Airport and 50mm at St. John’s. Joseph, among other localities.
Here’s a look at some of the storms that have ravaged the Prades this week:
