Piers Morgan “will take a six-week break” from TalkTV program, but experts say he will not disappear like Andrew Neil

Piers Morgan is due to take a six-week break from his talk show on TalkTV as he suffers a declining audience.

Morgan is expected to hand over the show to a rotation of substitute presenters for an extended period later this summer.

Piers Morgan Uncensored ratings have fallen since the launch edition drew 400,000 viewers for the presenter’s opening night interview with Donald Trump last month.

Official data from the Broadcasters’ Audience Research Board (BARB) showed that a recent episode received an average of 24,000 viewers and ended with only 10,000.

Morgan was defeated in audiences by rival arc GB News during one edition, while other TalkTV programming shows have recorded a “zero viewer” rating for Barb.

TalkTV, owned by Rupert Murdoch’s News UK, declined to comment on Morgan’s holiday plans, which were revealed on Twitter by Media Guido.

Experts say the presenter has a long-scheduled break with Uncensored for later in the summer.

Morgan has pledged to film a series of television crimes and is likely to take a vacation after that, making an extended period out of his prime-time show.

When he was the lead presenter on ITV’s Good Morning Britain, Morgan took a summer vacation in the south of France, at his holiday home in Saint-Tropez.

The news of Morgan’s break sparked comparisons on social media with the flight of Andrew Neil as GB News’ flagship presenter.

Neil announced that he would be going on holiday to France two weeks after the problematic launch of the canal and that he would not return to work.

Industry experts say Morgan’s situation was very different. He remains optimistic about TalkTV’s prospects, noting the impact on social media of his show’s clips and stating on social media that “linear television is irrelevant.”

It is unclear who will take over Morgan’s program when his break begins.

Morgan had promised to “cancel the culture of cancellation” with his own direct view of cultural wars.

But earlier this month, Nigel Farage’s GB News program gained more viewers than Morgan’s program for the first time since the release of TalkTV.

TalkTV intended to challenge the television establishment. However, industry figures believe that Murdoch may have overestimated the prime-time audience of opinion-led news channels.
