With several exclusive PlayStation titles that have made a successful leap to PC in recent years, it seems that Sony bosses are willing to duplicate their plans.
In an early-morning investor briefing, Sony PlayStation President Jim Ryan revealed that the company earned $ 80 million in PC gaming during fiscal year 2021 (ending 31 March 2022), more than the 35 million the previous year.
Now, the company has big plans for next year, with Sony saying they expect to make $ 300 million in computer sales alone. It is unclear how they plan to do this.
So far, the “Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection” expected this summer is the only officially announced port of a PlayStation PC exclusive on the record.
Sony has plenty of others that could make the leap, but with “Bloodborne”, “Marvel’s Spider-Man”, “Ghost of Tsushima” and “The Last of Us” on PC gamers’ wish lists. Recent reports suggest that a PC version of “Returnal” is not being announced.
However, another potential source of revenue is their plans to grow their live service franchises from one to three over the next twelve months and have up to twelve live service games in 2025.
The company also revealed the current revenue of the PC versions of several of its titles, including “Horizon: Zero Dawn” ($ 60 million), “God of War” ($ 26.2 million) and ” Days Gone “($ 22.7 million). These are strong figures, but it is true that they are pale compared to the sales of consoles where as “God of War” and “Horizon: Zero Dawn” raised at least $ 500 million and $ 400 million respectively in their two early years according to PS Lifestyle.
