Police have arrested a suspect who allegedly stabbed an ATM during the robbery at a Chinatown bank last month.
It happened at a Bank of Montreal branch on Spadina Avenue north of Dundas Street on June 27th.
The suspect is said to have entered the bank with a knife and then jumped over a counter, approached an employee and asked for cash.
That employee pulled cash out of his wallet and offered it to the suspect. Police say the suspect grabbed the cash before stabbing the employee several times. He then fled the bank by an emergency exit at the back of the premises.
On July 5, police issued an arrest warrant for Mark Webster, 43, in connection with the incident, noting in a press release that it should be considered “violent and dangerous.”
Webster was arrested Tuesday by members of the Ontario Provincial Police.
Toronto police say Webster faces 13 charges, including assault for bodily harm.
Police have previously said the stabbing victim suffered serious injuries but did not endanger his life.
