Police arrested him after a Kitchener man “caught” witnesses

Waterloo Regional Police have arrested a 48-year-old Kitchener man in connection with the investigation of a stolen vehicle.

In a press release, police said officers responded to reports of a stolen vehicle in the area of ​​Hoffman Street and Meinzinger Avenue in Kitchener around 7:15 a.m. Saturday, May 28th.

Const. André Johnson said the victim of a vehicle theft on May 25 was driving when he saw his vehicle stolen and saw a man entering it. Then he followed him.

The suspect fled the vehicle on foot and was captured by witnesses in the area, police said.

Officers arrived at the scene shortly afterwards and also recovered a backpack that the suspect dropped.

Inside the backpack, police found drugs such as ecstasy, methamphetamine, cocaine and fentanyl.

A 48-year-old Kitchener man has now been charged with:

  • Possession of stolen property in excess of $ 5,000
  • Four offenses of possession for the purpose of drug trafficking
  • Running while affected by drugs
  • Dangerous operation of a vehicle
  • Unauthorized tension of a weapon
  • Possession of a weapon contrary to a restraining order
  • Drive in suspension
