ANDOVER, Mass. – A suspected gunman barricaded inside a vehicle on I-495 has suffered an “apparent self-inflicted bullet wound,” state police said.
He has been transferred to Lawrence General Hospital.
The highway was cut in both directions between I-93 and Rt. 28, near the Lawrence-Andover line, while police and crisis negotiators responded to the scene.
By 10:15 p.m., I-495 South and the right lane of I-495 North had reopened. The left lanes of I-495 North remained closed.
Police said the suspect was the only person inside the vehicle.

I-495 NB and SB is currently closed near #Andover and traffic is being diverted due to police activity in the area. Traffic on I-495 SB was diverted to Exit 100, I-495 NB was diverted to I-93. Expect delays and look for an alternative route.
