Police incident at Great Oaty Gardens, Warndon Villages

A MAN is in serious but stable condition after a police incident in Warndon Villages.

The man suffered a medical episode and was taken by ambulance to Worcestershire Royal Hospital, where he remains in serious but stable condition.

Police were called to Great Oaty Gardens in Warndon Villages following reports of a riot early this morning (Sunday).

Two officers were injured while trying to stop them.

It was during the incident when the man suffered a medical episode and has now been referred to an independent watchdog.

There was a cordon at the scene but it was removed shortly before 2 p.m.

West Mercia police have transferred the incident to the Independent Office of Police Conduct (IOPC), which will now conduct an independent investigation.

A spokesman said this is a common practice for incidents of this nature.

“Due to the ongoing IOPC investigation, it would not be appropriate for us to comment further at this stage, however, we will do so when we can.”
