The 44-year-old’s body was found in a bush in Bluewater, North Queensland, by a group of teenagers visiting the popular fishing spot on Saturday, August 13.
The following day, police were called to a shooting in Yarlbaroo on the Bruce Highway, 300km south of where the woman was found.

The Townsville Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) and Homicide Investigation Unit have shared photos of a red 1997 Toyota Corolla hatchback believed to be linked to the incidents and are appealing for anyone with dash cam information or images are presented.
Investigators are particularly interested in dash cam footage around Bluewater Drive, Jaloonda Road, including the Jaloonda Road boat ramp at Althaus Creek and the Bruce Highway between Bluewater and Deeragun around 10:30 a.m. and at 11:30 on Saturday August 13.

Police confirmed the car was in Bluewater on Saturday, traveling south to Proserpine.
The man driving the car allegedly fired a single shot at a passing car on Yarlbaroo Road, south of Proserpine about 11.30am on Sunday before being arrested by police at a petrol station in Proserpine later that night.
The man, who was confirmed to be in a relationship with the 44-year-old woman, was taken to Mackay for questioning.
Police confirmed that the man inside the vehicle was not injured during the shooting and it is this report that led to the arrest of the suspects.
Police are also looking for dash cam footage from the red vehicle at the time of the shooting, which happened near Midge Point Road, Bloomsbury and the Bruce Highway near Bloomsbury, Yalboroo, Calen and Mount Ossa.
Police confirmed that a weapon had been seized at the crime scene, but did not reveal what it was. (new)
Police said the red car may have been driving erratically.
No charges have been filed against the 38-year-old.
