Police resume search for 22-year-old hiker reported missing in Grampians after calling his mother

The air wing of the police and the state emergency service are looking for a woman who got lost yesterday while hiking in the Grampians west of Victoria.

The 22-year-old left alone around noon in the Mount Rosea area near Halls Gap, before calling her mother at 8pm telling her she was lost.

Her mother alerted emergency services who began tracking the area.

The search was suspended early in the morning, but the teams have already returned to the ground.

Mount Rosea has an altitude of more than 1,000 meters and temperatures during the night were expected to plummet until it almost froze.

More to come.
