Langford police are investigating and seeking public assistance after former activists were caught on camera throwing manure at Prime Minister John Horgan’s election office on Wednesday morning.

At 9:30 a.m., the West Shore RCMP responded to a malicious report involving about five people who were seen dumping feces on the steps of Organ’s Jacklin Road office.

Signs were also placed in a pile of garbage and placed at the front doors, according to police, who note that the suspects fled before officers arrived at the scene.

This morning, Save Old Growth said its members dropped the battery at 9 a.m. because they are “tired of the inaction of the Organ NDP government to protect ancient forests.”

According to the activist group, the gross surprise came after a campaign promise by the BC government to implement the 14 recommendations of the old growth strategic review panel.

“The Prime Minister himself promised a ‘paradigm shift’ for the forest industry in BC, a backward and necessary step to protect the old,” said activist Alexi Hu.

“Instead, we continue with the same outdated and shabby policies and practices that we have had for decades.”

Save Old Growth is calling for legislation to immediately end all old logging in the province and says the “inaction of the BC government is tantamount to negligence in tackling climate chaos.”

The West Shore RCMP has posted security camera footage along with several photos of the suspects at the event, asking anyone who recognizes them or the associated vehicle to call (250) 474-2264.
