The levels of fecal bacteria in Lake Chestermere are too high for Alberta’s health services, and the organization wants you to stay out of the water.
The problem of pooping on Lake Chestermere, just east of the city limits of Calgary, has reached a level where any contact with water could cause medical problems, such as:
- Gastrointestinal disease;
- skin infections;
- ear infections; i,
- Eye infections.
As of Friday, the swimming and wading warning is in effect for the following stretches of the lake:
- Anniversary Park Beach;
- Cove Park Beach; i,
- Sunset Park Beach.
Warning signs will be placed on each beach.
AHS says environmental public health agents will continue to monitor fecal bacteria levels within the lake.
