You’ll hear a lot of trends before Game 7 between the Carolina Hurricanes and the New York Rangers.
Carolina is now famous for 7-0 at home and 0-6 as a visitor this postseason. With Saturday night’s victory, the Rangers went 4-0 in the playoffs. And while these stats allow for decent fodder and easy column inches, bettors should dig a little deeper to try to make sense of what’s going on in this weird series.
One trend that seems worth acting is that the Hurricanes have played a much tighter and more disciplined hockey style at home, where they can get the clashes they want with the advantage of having the latest change.

Through three games at the PNC Arena, the two teams have combined for a total of nine goals (including an empty net) and 54 high-scoring goal opportunities in five-on-five. In the Garden, the teams scored 16 goals and 75 high-risk chances in five against five in so many games.
Goals have already been hard to come by in this series and Games 7 are notoriously low-scoring, so it would be a surprise if we saw either team escape with a win on Monday night.
All the right ingredients for an extension to Game 7 with more money.
