Prince Harry and Meghan Markle branded ‘royals for sale’ in extraordinary statement

Duncan Larcombe made the extraordinary claim during an interview in which he said: “Harry and Meghan are royals, but they are royals for sale and there is no way out.” He went on to say that this is “unacceptable” for Buckingham Palace.

Mr Larcombe said: “In terms of the Palace, that is what is unacceptable about his behaviour.”

The author of Prince Harry: The Inside Story told Closer magazine that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were “capitalizing” on the monarchy, adding: “You’re taking one of the most established brands and you’re lining the pockets in the United States with this.

“It’s sad because he was so loved and the royal family work together and support each other. He’s making a difference to people’s lives, but he used to be. [he left].”

The comments come as claims emerged that Harry and Meghan will not visit the Queen at Balmoral despite being invited.

A Balmoral insider told the Sun that royal staff had been told to wait for the Duke and Duchess at the Queen’s estate in Scotland.

However, US outlet PageSix reported that the Sussexes were not invited.

Harry and Meghan are expected to remain in the US ahead of the publication of their long-awaited memoirs this autumn.

Last week it was reported that the Queen had traveled to her private Scottish home to begin her traditional summer holiday.

“If they really wanted to make it up to their families, they would drop Harry’s book deal, stop making a documentary about the wall, visit Meghan’s father before he died in Mexico and come back to the UK.”

He added that there were all kinds of things that Harry and Meghan could do, but didn’t, which indicated that they had made their bed and wanted to lie in it.

Dampier said: “They will continue to make money and do what they feel is right for them, which is not what is right for any of their families.”

The claims came after Harry was granted permission to challenge a government decision in court over his security arrangements.

Harry is contesting the decision to leave his police protection while in Britain, even if he pays the cost himself.

The decision was taken in early 2020 by the Executive Committee for the Protection of Royalty and Public Figures, on behalf of the Home Office, the ministry responsible for policing, immigration and security.

A British High Court judge granted leave for part of Harry’s claim for a judicial review of the decision.

Meanwhile, the British people have expressed their approval for Harry to return as a royal, arguing that he is part of the family.

Express.co.uk asked members of the public in Kensington, west London, if they thought Harry should be able to return to royal life if he wanted to.

Most expressed approval of the Duke of Sussex’s return.

Student Saskia, 18, claimed the Duke has a right to return because he is part of the family.

He added: “He grew up in it, that was his life and his childhood. I understand that it was a big choice to leave, and I can absolutely see why some people would say no, but I think if he’s grown up with it, then I should probably be able to come back if I wanted to.”
