Protesters have gathered today on the steps of the Victorian parliament to demand that the state government stop killing wild brumbias.
The Victorian opposition has pledged to a management plan focused on relocating horses if elected.
However, Parks Victoria says brumbias are causing environmental damage.

Protester Leigh Allen said more needs to be done to protect horses.
“These are horses that saved our country,” Allen said.
National leader Peter Walsh said he would draft a plan to manage the animals.
“There are communities out there that want to work with the government, with Parks Victoria, to manage the population, to have a sustainable population,” he said.
“Why should the government go out and shoot them all?”
In 2019, the estimated number of wild horses in the Victorian Alpine region was about 5,000.
