We recently reported a couple of games appearing on PS Plus Extra and PS Plus Premium that will be leaving the service fairly soon. This caused some confusion, as many believed that the large gaming libraries of the new levels would be accessible forever, as long as you stay subscribed and download them to your PS5 or PS4. To be perfectly clear, this is not the case.
If a PS Plus Extra or Premium game is removed, it will no longer be available to play, even if you have claimed it.
Sony confirmed this detail in its PS Blog guide about the new PS Plus, making the following statement: “Similar to PlayStation Now, if content is no longer offered on PlayStation Plus, you won’t be able to access titles when you leave the service.” .
As he says, PS Now worked on the same basis. Once a game was taken out of service, it became inaccessible even to those who had played or downloaded it. It is exactly the same for PS Plus Extra and Premium.
However, PS Plus Essential monthly games, as well as titles from the PS Plus collection, will remain accessible when they leave the service, as long as you have added them to your library.
If you’re still unsure of how things stack up, we encourage you to keep track of our list of All PS Plus Games. This page contains all the information you need about each game at all levels, including when they join and upcoming expiration dates. There is also more information on the three levels of PS Plus explained through the link.
