Facebook has announced that Meta Quest 2 will have a massive price increase starting August 1st. The 128GB and 256GB versions of the headset will increase by $100 (~$143) on August 1st. Add-ons will also go up on August 1st. That means there’s literally less than 48 hours until there’s a grand tour of these headphones and all their accessories.
New pricing for the Meta Quest is expected to be around AUD$600 for the 128GB version and $780 for the 256GB version. You still have until August 1st to purchase Meta Quest 2 and its accessories at their original prices:
Starting August 1st, Facebook will include a copy of Beat Saber for free with every purchase on December 31st, but that hardly makes up for the price difference.
Facebook says the price increase for these products is due to increased costs to develop the headsets and ship them. It is also assumed that Facebook was already suffering a significant loss for each Meta Quest 2 headset sold.
