PSVR2 could go into production as early as this year, says an analyst via Twitter.
The information was provided by GamesRadarand comes from TF International Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who states: “My latest supply chain verification suggests that the assembler and several PS VR2 component suppliers will begin mass production with shipments of about 1.5 million units in 2H22 “.
Kuo says Sony may be planning to launch headphones in the first quarter of 2023, although that may depend on PSVR 2 game development schedules. first and third grade titles, with Horizon Call of the Mountain in the picture. While not confirmed as a release title, its inclusion seems to imply that could be the case.
While Kuo’s trajectory has been erratic in the past, the launch window claimed in early 2023 has been corroborated by other analysts and filterers before, giving an air of legitimacy to the claims.
The hardware will work exclusively with PlayStation 5 consoles. It will support higher resolution, faster refresh rates, a wider field of view, and improved tracking and input. PSVR2 seems to have the potential to be an impressive piece of technology so far, although there is no word on how much it will cost people to get their hands on it. The original PSVR of 2016 coincided with the launch price of the PlayStation 4 of £ 349, so we can see a similar strategy with this new iteration. On the other hand, Sony may try to make it more affordable compared to its latest console to reduce the entry barrier, although this may not be a viable strategy.
