Public Health Ontario reveals two more cases of monkeypox in Ottawa

There are currently 326 confirmed cases of monkeypox in Ontario.

Public Health Ontario (PHO) reports two more cases of monkeypox in the capital.

As of Tuesday, July 26, there are 23 confirmed cases of monkeypox in Ottawa, while the Eastern Ontario Health Unit and the Leeds, Grenville and Lanark District Health Unit each report a case of smallpox. The Renfrew County and District Health Unit has not reported any confirmed cases of smallpox.

There are currently 326 confirmed monkeypox cases in Ontario, with 250 of them in Toronto. Of the 326 cases in the province, two have affected women.

Ottawa Public Health (OPH) offers monkeypox vaccines.

Monkeypox disease comes from the same family of viruses that cause smallpox, which the World Health Organization declared eradicated worldwide in 1980. Smallpox vaccines have proven effective in fighting the smallpox virus.
