The Shankill community hosted a full day of celebrations for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee on Saturday.
Shankill Road was a sea of red, white, and blue as several activities took place and lasted several hours.
The Queen’s procession and costume parade left Townsend Street at lunchtime, where a new jubilee mural was inaugurated on the corner of Crimea Street.

Other events included an afternoon tea for retirees with live performances, a street party for local children with craft tables, face painting, street performers and more.
There was also a drumming workshop with a performance outside the ACT Initiative: a Women’s ACT bow display was also seen at Ulster Bank.
Throughout the day, a large television broadcasted events from Buckingham Palace to the community participation area in the co-op.
