It marked the first day of a four-day weekend to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the coronation of Queen Elizabeth.
BCP Cllr Board Chairman Nigel Hedges cut the ribbon to open the celebrations on Isaacs Road, Poole.
He said: “It’s a real thrill. From my point of view as chairman of the BCP Council, you want it to be a community and this is not about politics today.
“We have other community groups I’ve visited and I’ve had to drink tea and eat cake, which is a bit of a chore.
“This is about the community, after two years of real testing with Covid not being able to meet, that’s amazing.”
