Quin69 has now raised over $ 18,000 in Diablo Immortal, still Gemless

After making headlines recently for dropping 10,000 New Zealand dollars (AU $ 8,973) on Diablo Immortal and failing to achieve a legendary 5-star gem, New Zealand streamer Quin69 is not giving up.

In the time since he made his first round of headlines, Quin has dropped another $ 10,000 to Legendary Crests in an effort to reduce his drop rate. After injecting (at the time of writing) about NZ $ 21,000 (AU $ 18,845) in a personal crusade that is surely turning the white hair of his accountant, Quin still doesn’t have a legendary gem in his first name.

The reason Quin refuses to give up is the desire to show the world how he is a predator is really the income model of the player Diablo Immortal. The community is well aware that the game has been created to milk their wallets for all they are worth, at all levels, but the question of how exactly the numbers have been weighted remains.

As explained the last time we caught up with Quin69, we need legendary gems to update the statistics of the best final equipment of Diablo Immortal. 5-star gems are the most powerful and desirable, but also the rarest. A total of six legendary 5-star gems are needed to fully optimize a complete kit after the game.

This coincides with news reported by GameRant last week suggesting that Diablo Immortal’s pity system wasn’t quite up to par either. The pity system as designed is supposed to offer players a way to ensure a legendary gem fall. The deal, as initially understood, was that players who collected 50 legendary shields could sacrifice them in exchange for a guaranteed 5-star legendary gem. That’s not what’s happening, though. As detailed in the game’s small print, you are not guaranteed a legendary 5-star gem. Rather, you are guaranteed a legendary gem with a star rating of five. It’s still a game of chance. You could burn your 50 legendary shields and get a 1-star gem, a setting so crazy that even in theory it makes my skin itch.

So where does that leave Quin69? Shit creek up and down $ 20,000, in terms of Gems, but phenomenally powerful even without them. Quin69’s current team allows him to cut through mobs and PvP alike, which has caused one or two fanfares. His chat rushes to humiliate him, flooding the chat window with messages that say “Well paid” as a reminder that he didn’t get there on his own.

It remains to be seen how far the Quin can push this crusade before someone takes away his credit card.
