Jubilee weekend in Suffolk could see showers and thunder, but that should be clarified before Sunday’s big jubilee lunches.

Weatherquest forecasts that while most of Saturday will be relatively dry, there will be heavy rain and thunder on Saturday night and Sunday morning.

Meteorologist Adam Dury said: “Some clouds will develop in the early hours [of Saturday]that there is very little chance of showers in the early hours of tomorrow morning, but it is likely that Saturday will also be a dry day. “

He added: “There will be chunks of clouds, as well as strange periods of sunshine with highs of only 17-18 ºC. The closer you are to the coast, the colder it will be, dropping to 14 ºC right next to the sea.

“From Saturday evening, after 22:00, there will be an increase in the risk of rain, which could be thunderous.

“This could get pretty heavy in the early hours of Sunday morning, so it will start a little wet with chunks of rain.”

However, it seems unlikely that these showers will affect the large jubilee lunches that are held throughout the county on Sunday afternoon.

Dury continued: “It should gradually clear on Sunday afternoon, but it will remain quite cloudy, with a strange sunny.

“Once you arrive in the afternoon, after noon, it will dry out with some sun around.

“We are looking at temperatures of 15-16 ° C in Suffolk and 17 ° C in Essex.”

Speaking of the rest of the week, he added: “It is still raining on Monday and it will probably feel a little wet, but still below average temperatures.

“Tuesday will be a little warmer and should be a dry day, while on Wednesday there may be more showers from the west, although the highs will return to 20ºC.

“Potentially over the weekend we will have another round of thunderstorms.”
