Random: The Power Glove is an inventive way to play Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit

The Power Glove was not great. We know it, you know it, everyone knows it. He is famous for being one of the worst drivers in history. However, this does not stop people from feeling fascinated and trying new things with the peripheral.

User napabar has sent us a Power Glove demo by connecting to the Switch and getting the controller to play Switch games, the most impressive of which is Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit. The Napabar Reason: Who Leads the YouTube Channel Will It Work? – wants to get the glove to control this mixed reality game because it will involve using the glove tilt controls to actually move a physical object around the house without touching it.

One of the challenges Napabar faced was that Mario Kart Live only controlled with the control stick instead of giving the player a D-pad option. Fortunately, napabar was able to avoid this problem with relative ease. The other problem was that current consoles not only recognize any old USB driver (it must be an officially licensed driver) and while the Power Glove is a Nintendo driver, it is also quite old. So napabar had to pick up the Titan One USB adapter, on top of the NES to USB adapter it had already purchased, to get the Switch to recognize the driver.

After setting the controls by moving your hand in the direction you were moving the analog stick, napabar tests the Power Glove with Pokémon Legends: Arceus, and it works! Then it goes to the main event, and we have to be honest, it’s pretty awesome to see little plastic Mario in the kart moving across the floor in the directions Napabar is moving his hand, though to speed it up, he did. some additional code needs to be written to the Titan One USB adapter to enable automatic acceleration as Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.

So, eh, if you have a Power Glove, this is something you might want to try for yourself! There are some things you can’t do, such as reassign your finger controls, but it’s a pretty ingenious and silly way to play the video games we approve of.

You can watch the full video on how to set up Power Glove on the switch and see how Mario Kart Live works with this legendary driver.
