On Tuesday, Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson held his first press conference since March 25th. Attorney Tony Buzbee then issued his latest press release.
Near the bottom of a paragraph commentary is a disastrous remark about the possibility of additional lawsuits against Watson. There are currently 24 pending and two more are expected.
“They sent us the video of the Watson press conference,” Buzbee told ESPN.com’s Jake Trotter. “We appreciate the Cleveland market and his fervent support for his new quarterback, Deshaun Watson. and the havoc that Watson has wreaked havoc, we think it would be appropriate to see Deshaun Watson express some regret or remorse in how he treated these women, some of whom have sued and many others not yet. “We have nothing more to say on this subject.”
How many are “many”? This will not be known until the final statute of limitations for the last massage Watson received passes. It’s been two years since most people who gave Watson the latest massage could claim to have crossed the line. Presumably, this means that lawsuits could be filed up to the two-year anniversary of the filing of the first lawsuit, assuming that upon hearing the first lawsuit for sexual misconduct during massage therapy sessions, Watson stopped arranging private massages in through social media.
Thus, the window will be open until mid-March 2023. Only then will we know how many “many” there are and how many more than 26 women will sue Watson for allegedly misbehaving during a massage session.
