Report: Production of the iPhone 14 Max was delayed by three weeks due to COVID blocking

Nikkei Asia reported this week that Apple and its suppliers are struggling with production of the iPhone 14 due to COVID blockades in China. Now Haitong International Securities analyst Jeff Pu has given more details to this story saying that the production of the iPhone 14 Max is delayed by three weeks.

According to Nikkei Asia, Apple has asked vendors to speed up production of the new iPhone models, which are expected to be released later this year. This is due to the fact that several Apple vendors have suspended their operations in China as a result of the COVID blockades.

Yesterday’s report revealed that a specific model of iPhone 14 was affected by delays in the test of engineering verification (EVT), when suppliers complete all parts and processes before mass production begins. . Analyst Jeff Pu believes the affected model is the iPhone 14 Max (not the Pro Max).

To mitigate the impact of the delays, Apple plans to begin mass production of the new iPhones earlier than expected. However, production of the iPhone 14 Max, which will be assembled mainly by Pegatron, is expected to begin in late August, just a few weeks before the announcement of the new models.

Jeff Pu predicts that Apple will build 91 million units of iPhone 14 by the end of the year despite delays in production of the Model 14 Max, which is more than the 84 million units of iPhone 13 that Apple sent on 2021. However, it is unclear whether delays in production will occur. push Apple to suspend the official announcement of the iPhone 14.

IPhone Rumors 14

The iPhone 14 is expected to be available in four different models. A 6.1-inch iPhone 14, a new 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Max, a 6.1-inch iPhone 14 Pro, and a 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Pro Max. As you can see, there will be no new “mini” model in the iPhone 14 line.

Other rumors include an updated design for the 14 Pro models with a new “pill-shaped” notch, thinner bezels, and larger camera sensors with a large 48-megapixel lens. Unfortunately, the usual iPhone 14 models are not expected to have significant changes in terms of design and hardware.

Independent sources from 9to5Mac and analyst Ming-Chi Kuo say Apple could break with tradition this year by launching some iPhone 14 models with the same A15 chip as the iPhone 13.
