Capcom’s current-generation updates for Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 3, and Resident Evil 7: Biohazard are released today, June 13th.
The Japanese gaming giant made the announcement during its first Capcom Showcase. Until now, only the latest generation versions of Resident Evil 2, 3, and 7 had been able to play on new consoles through compatibility with previous versions.
With the updates, support for 4K, high frame rate, ray tracing, 3D audio will be added, and on the PS5, haptic feedback from the DualSense controller and adaptive triggers will be added to all three games. Those who already have the games can get a free upgrade to the current generation versions. PC gamers will also receive free patches today.
The next entry in the Resident Evil series, the remake of Resident Evil 4, will be released on March 24, 2023. During the Capcom Showcase, a very brief overview of the gameplay of the highly anticipated game was revealed.
In addition, Capcom has confirmed that Resident Evil Village’s “Winters’ Expansion” DLC will be released on October 28th. The meat of this DLC is a storyline called Shadows of Rose that follows Ethan Winters’ daughter Rose after the events of the main game. In addition, the Winters expansion will include more mercenary content and a third-person perspective mode.
Finally, the Resident Evil Re: Verse multiplayer experience will also be released on October 28th and will be offered at no extra cost to anyone who has purchased Village.
