The Army suspended a three-star general after he appeared to mock First Lady Jill Biden.
Retired Lieutenant General Gary Volesky, a former Army spokesman, responded to a tweet from Biden about the Supreme Court decision overturning Roe v. Wade, in which the first lady remarked that women’s rights had been “stolen.”
Biden tweeted that “for almost 50 years, women have the right to make our own decisions about our bodies. Today they have robbed us of that right.”
Volesky replied, “I’m glad to see you finally know what a woman is.”
Volesky’s tweet has since been removed.
The military suspended Volesky, who had signed a $ 92 an hour contract to advise officers on active duty as a mentor, while conducting an investigation, according to USA TODAY. Volesky had been at the head of the 101st Airborne Division of the Army.

Volesky, who retired in 2020, earned a silver star for courage while serving in Iraq.
