Whose was this brilliant idea?
A Perth property with dozens of ceiling light switches has baffled buyers.
The dilapidated house at 83 Surrey Road in Rivervale, currently rented for $ 250 a week, could be used in a Stranger Things scene.

TikTok user Jordie van den Berg (@purplepingers) was left scratching his head after seeing the list.
“I have a question … I want you to imagine asking a guest to turn off a light in the kitchen and just look at the roof,” he said.
“How … why are there light switches on the roof in every room?”

Listing agent Sarah Highlands of Laurie Kelly Real Estate revealed that the owner had a light bulb moment and used the switches to “stick to the ceiling.”
The 900-square-foot block is on the market in hopes of pricing more than $ 799,000, in a separate ad on the rental list.
The house is so dilapidated that the list promotes the sale as land with a “free 1946 country house.” Meanwhile, a tenant is renting the property, which they apparently “love” the quirky features, according to Highlands.
The photos in the list show the weather plate house desperately needing some TLC or an excavator.
“Please do not remove the light switches that support charging,” one TikTok user commented.
Another said, “How can I sleep without knowing the intent behind these light switches?”
Some people said that in today’s rental market, $ 250 a week was a good deal.

“I mean, I would live there for that price lol,” one person said.
“Given the rental prices in Sunshine Coast, I would probably accept it,” said another.
The list comes amid record rental prices, with vacancy rates dropping to 0.9 percent in June. The average rental price for a property in Perth is $ 495.
Last month, an Adelaide studio with a bathroom (including a sink) inside a “modern” kitchen that is rented for $ 400 a week exposed the depth of Australia’s rental crisis.
The 35-square-meter apartment has a kitchen without a stove, a bar fridge, no laundry and, of course, the feature: a clear glass bathroom in the middle of the kitchen with shower and sink. Let’s talk about dinner and show!
Real estate agent Rachel Lawrie said the list was “relatively cheaper” than other one-bedroom apartments in the current rental market.
“It became an Airbnb to help people struggling to enter the Adelaide rental market,” he said.
