RMT leader Mick Lynch wins a cult following for rejecting critics

His leadership of the largest rail strikes in Britain for 30 years yesterday posed logistical challenges for millions of travelers across the UK.

However, while many of those whose plans were inevitably disrupted were called outcasts, Mick Lynch, the general secretary of the RMT, has also established an online cult following a series of media appearances.

Celebrities and politicians have announced the union leader’s ironic remarks when questioned by major broadcasters such as Richard Madeley, who said he was evoking “the most notable joke”.

Actor Hugh Laurie was among Lynch’s praises after 50,000 members of his union starred in the first of three 24-hour outings.
