Road closures, start times and everything you need to know about City2Surf

Special event freeways will be set up along the route with parked cars towed from 1am to 4pm, so be sure to check the route and any signage before leaving your car.

NSW Police reminded motorists and residents to pay close attention to road closures and parking regulations in place throughout Sunday. “Vehicles left in special event lanes, even those with local parking permits, will be towed away and charges will apply,” Detective Superintendent John Duncan said.

Runners will set off from Hyde Park at the intersection of Park and College Streets before traveling along William Street, through the Kings Cross Tunnel and along New South Head Road towards Rose Bay.

“Heartbreak Hill” marks the halfway point and one of the most scenic parts of the course, but you won’t see too many runners taking in the view as they battle their way up the infamous slope.

The second half of the course passes through Vaucluse before turning south onto Old South Head Road and then Military Road, when runners are treated to sea views and salty air as they descend towards the finish on the Bondi coast.

Start times

The runners are staggered to take into account the different pace of the participants. The first runners left at 7.40am, with the last group leaving the CBD at 9.40am. Check out the full launch schedule below.
