Rod Stewart surprised fans after doing what appeared to be a “karaoke” at the Platinum Party In The Palace.
The 77-year-old Rockstar performed Neil Diamond Sweet Caroline’s hit, but viewers were less than impressed with her performance.
In just one night, some of the biggest names in the music industry came out to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, which marks Her Majesty’s 70th year on the throne.
BBC viewers took to Twitter to share their thoughts on the choice of the song by Maggie May singers.
One said, “I’m a big fan of Sir Rod Stewart. But doing bad karaoke at #PlatinumPartyatthe Palace wasn’t great. Just sing your own hits. You have a few.”

Another joked, “After Rod killed the sweet Caroline Andrea Bocelli, he just destroyed Nessun Dorma in the park. #PlatinumPartyatthePalace.”
A third scolded: “Has Rod Stewart even heard of Sweet Caroline before? Absolutely terrible. #PlatinumPartyatthe Palace”
A fourth wrote, “No … I’m out. Rod ruined it and now my ears are bleeding #PlatinumPartyalPalace.”

A fifth joked, “I’m sure Rod Stewart will give you a warm welcome the next time you come to Parkhead after singing (well, I use the word sing smoothly) Sweet Caroline for the Queen at his jubilee platinum concert.” .
However, not all fans felt the same way.
One wrote: “Rod Stewart covering Sweet Caroline was a joy! #PlatinumPartyatthe Palace”
Another sounded, “Hate will hate, but Rod still has #PlatinumPartyalPalace.”
A third said, “Rod Stewart, what a legend! It still makes people go.”
During an interview with BBC Breakfast’s Naga Munchetty, Rod spoke of his love for Her Majesty.

“I grew up with this woman,” Rod recalled. “He was seven years old when he came to the throne.
“So she’s always been a part of my life, and having met her seven times makes it even more important to me.”
“What does she mean to you?” Naga asked. “You’ve met him a few times, that must be amazing.”
Rod was a little excited as he explained, “She’s been a part of my life, she’s almost like a sister.
“It’s always been in the background of my life,” he added.
