The commissioner has confirmed one of the worst-kept secrets in the NFL.

Appearing on CNBC, Roger Goodell said Sunday Ticket will leave DirecTV after the 2022 season.

Through Daniel Kaplan of TheAthletic.com, Goodell said Sunday Ticket will end with a streaming service and a decision will be made this fall.

CNBC recently reported that Apple, Disney and Amazon have made bids for the off-market viewing package, with the big three corporations awaiting the next NFL move.

As CNBC also reported, contracts between the NFL and CBS / Fox prevent DirecTV’s successor from significantly reducing the $ 300 annual package price. This protects companies that have paid a lot of money for the ability to make games available to local affiliates in a given area.

Nor does it do any favors to fans / consumers who want to watch the matches they decide to watch. At this point, however, most fans / consumers will gladly pay the price for an effective and reliable internet option for watching games that are not being televised in the areas where they live.

Despite all the progress the league has made in recent years, Sunday Ticket is still lagging behind. Starting next year, it looks like it will be over.

As long as you have an efficient and reliable high speed internet service. If you don’t, I’m sorry, but I’m afraid you can’t come make the trip.
