Problems on top of problems.
Roller Champions will not be cancelled, but issues with the experience will mean a delay to the next season, Ubisoft has confirmed.
The publisher moved quickly to squash rumors that the 3v3 free-to-play title would soon be shelved, as first alleged by Giant Bomb’s Jeff Grubb.
“Roller Champions will be canceled after Season 3,” Grubb said, reading a statement from a source.
Ubisoft took to Twitter shortly after and said: “First let’s get this out of the way, Roller Champions will not be canceled and Ubisoft fully supports it.”
In its broader statement, Ubisoft also confirmed that the current season, Disco Fever, would be extended to “fix issues that our players have expressed as irritating.”
I’ve been playing Roller Champions and frequently run into long queue times, unstable connections, and just horrible players who don’t seem to be affected by the reports. It’s a shame, too, because on the occasional occasion that Roller Champions works, it’s a lot of fun.
One thing is for sure in my mind: if Roller Champions can’t be fixed (and I’m not sure it can), Ubisoft had better get the suffering players to 100,000 fans and 200 wins, so we can wipe our Achievement. and trophy lists.
Roller Champions is available on Windows PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, PS4, PS5 and Switch. We reviewed it here.
