Rory McIlroy hits 108 YARDS on the way to another double at Travelers

Rory McIlroy’s incredible fights off the tee continued into the early stages of the third round at the Passenger Championship.

McIlroy, who made a quadruple bogey and a double back nine on the second day, returned to TPC River Highlands to hit his starting shot on the tree about 100 yards ahead of him in the second par-4.

Unfortunately, the Northern Irish ball fell into the tall fescue grass.

From there, McIlroy hit the ball but passed about 10 feet in front of him. Then he made another turn and the ball came out well left in the rough.

McIlroy hit a solid fourth shot on the green about 30 feet, but would pass two putts for another double bogey.

The last time McIlroy made three double or worse bogeys in a tournament was at the 2021 Player Championship.

In the 4th hole, a frustrated McIlroy hit his drive to the right and then hit his driver’s head on the scoreboard of the Passenger Championship exit box.

That would lead to a pair, but then he left a chip in the 5th hole par-3 while another bogey fell to the chart.

McIlroy would get that shot with a birdie on par-5 6th and then almost out with his approach to the 9th on the way to another birdie to get him in 1-over par.

He is currently 7 below par and very far from the pace of the tournament.

If you missed the action on the second day, McIlroy found himself with a one-shot advantage when he was on the 12th tee, but would continue to make a quad eight-bogey after sending his shot off limits.

He scored only the sixth quadruple bogey of his career on the PGA Tour.
