Dozens of civilians were killed and wounded after Russian missiles hit a crowded shopping center in the Ukrainian city of Kremenchuk yesterday, shortly after the United States pledged to send sophisticated air defense systems to Kyiv.
President Zelensky warned that the death toll could be “unimaginable,” saying there were more than a thousand civilians inside the center when the missiles struck.
First responders removed ten bodies from the building in the first three hours after the attack and transported at least two dozen injured to the hospital. The video posted on social media showed people stirring between the flames and smoke to escape the fire.
