On Tuesday, a 23-year-old woman filed a lawsuit against Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson. On Tuesday night, attorney Rusty Hardin issued a statement aggressively challenging the validity of the new claim.
“Deshaun Watson vehemently denies the allegations, as he has done since he first discussed them with members of our company in March last year,” Hardin said. “She repeated the allegations on social media in August and he denied them at the time. The only novelty in her claims is the embellishment that makes them more extreme than previous versions. Deshaun’s denial remains the same”.
The 23rd plaintiff apparently claims that two of Hardin’s colleagues tried to persuade her not to file a lawsuit against Watson. (We haven’t seen the new complaint yet.)
“The two highly respected lawyers in our firm, Letitia Quinones and Rachel Lewis, also vehemently deny that there was coercion or intimidation at the very cordial meeting in Vic and Anthony’s,” Hardin said. “They met her to see if she was one of Mr. Buzbee’s anonymous plaintiffs. At the time, Mr. Buzbee refused to identify his clients. The suggestion that either of these two engaged lawyers would have said” black women we have to be together “it’s absurd. The interview was so nice that he then joined the lawyers for dinner.”
The new plaintiff, like the other 22, is represented by Tony Buzbee. Hardin’s team has tried to make Buzbee the focal point of his attack, accusing him of pushing such cases to improve his follow-up on social media and to get interviews on programs like Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel.
“We are aware that more than a year ago she had other lawyers representing her and they finally ended the representation,” Hardin said. “This plaintiff has long had a vengeance against Deshaun since she jealously and furiously posted Deshaun’s personal details on social media in November 2020. By filing her lawsuit now, she was obviously unaffected by recent advances. No wonder Mr. Buzbee was willing to say anything to get more publicity. “.
Watson has constantly denied the allegations made by those who ask him. Regardless, there are now 23 different women asking for it. Except for agreement or dismissal, there will be 23 trials, eventually. The fact that lawsuit number 23 has now been filed virtually guarantees that this legal odyssey will last until 2023 and probably until 2024.
